A digital nomad trip is longer than a vacation (two weeks to several months) and needs a different filter: internet reliability, coworking options, cost of living, visa logistics, and a time-zone that works with your home office. The eight destinations below have all become established nomad bases. Monthly pricing ranges are per person for a long-stay apartment plus food plus coworking.

Southeast Asia classics

Bali (Canggu or Ubud) is the single most-visited digital-nomad base in Southeast Asia. Monthly costs run $1,500 to $3,500 per person for an apartment, food, coworking, and local transit. Internet is reliable in Canggu-area coworking spaces. The time zone (GMT+8) is manageable for US and European work schedules. Thailand (Chiang Mai or Phuket) is similar: $1,200 to $2,800 per person per month.

European nomad hubs

Lisbon has become one of the most popular European nomad bases in the last five years. Monthly costs run $2,500 to $4,500 per person for an apartment plus coworking plus food plus transit. Portugal's digital-nomad visa (D7) is relatively accessible for travelers from most Western countries. Barcelona is similar in pricing and lifestyle but with a slightly higher-cost base.

The Americas

Mexico City (not in this catalog) is the biggest Americas nomad hub. For destinations in this catalog, Cartagena, Colombia and Buenos Aires, Argentina are the two strongest picks. Cartagena: $1,500 to $3,000 per person per month. Buenos Aires: $1,800 to $3,500. Both have active coworking scenes and functioning time-zone overlap with the US.

The biggest nomad-trip decision is not location but length. A two-week trip rarely delivers the nomad lifestyle (you spend a week settling in before working well); a two-month trip starts to feel like actual residence. Four to six weeks is often the sweet spot.
